Privacy Policy

At Dr. Rose Plastic Surgery, you are within the confines of a medical clinic. As such, we follow the guidelines set out by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario titled “Confidentiality of Personal Health Information,” which all physicians and medical offices follow. All information about you, your health, and your procedures is strictly private. We do not share your medical records with anybody without your prior permission.

The Policy on Confidentiality follows the Personal Health Information Protection Act 2004 (PHIPA) to ensure personal health information is protected at all times.

Personal Health Information:

  • Relates to the physical or mental health of the individual, including information that consists of the health history of the individual’s family.
  • Relates to the providing of health care to the individual, including the identification of a person as a provider of health care to the individual.
  • A plan of service within the meaning of the Long-Term Care Act, 1994 for the individual.
  • Relates to payments or eligibility for health care in respect of the individual.
  • Relates to the donation by the individual of any body part or bodily substance.
  • Is the individual’s health number, or identifies an individual’s substitute decision-maker.

Communication & Third-Party Services Disclosure

To enhance communication and provide the best possible care, our clinic uses a third-party service that facilitates SMS and patient communication. This platform helps us manage appointments, send important updates, and offer patient support via text.

Note: While we prioritize your privacy and security, please note that communications and your initial intake assessment will be processed through this external service. By continuing to communicate with us, you acknowledge and consent to the use of our third-party service as part of your care experience. Our Commitment to You

Dr. Jacqueline Rose Makerewich and the staff of Rose Plastic Surgery act in accordance with all of their professional and legal obligations to establish and preserve trust in the physician-patient relationship. We aim to provide patients with the confidence that their personal health information will remain confidential.

Maintaining confidentiality is fundamental to providing the highest standard of patient care. Patients who understand that their information will remain confidential are more likely to provide the physician with complete and accurate health information, which in turn, leads to better treatment advice from the physician.

What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, phone number or other details to help you with your experience.

How do we protect your information?

We do not use vulnerability scanning and/or scanning to PCI standards.

We only provide articles and information. We never ask for credit card numbers.

We use regular Malware Scanning.

SMS Marketing Policy

Note: This section applies specifically to SMS marketing and does not replace our general Privacy Policy.

Collection of Phone Numbers

We collect your phone number only when voluntarily provided, such as during transactions, inquiries, or when signing up for promotional messages. You can opt in during your initial interaction with our website, through a pop-up, or by checking an SMS consent box on a form.

Use of Phone Numbers for SMS

Your phone number may be used to send personalized services, updates, and promotional offers. These may include appointment reminders, service updates, and special discounts. Standard SMS carrier charges may apply.

Opting Out of Marketing Messages

You may opt out of receiving SMS marketing messages at any time by:

  • Texting STOP
  • Texting UNSUBSCRIBE

Please allow up to 10 business days for the opt-out process to take effect.

Privacy of Phone Numbers

After opting out, your phone number will not be sold or transferred to third parties for marketing purposes. Limited sharing with subcontractors for support services (e.g., customer service) may occur.

Access to Promotions and Discounts

Opting into SMS is not required to access promotions or discounts, which may also be available directly on our website.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be posted on our website.

Do we use 'cookies'?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow it) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information unless we provide users with advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Google

Google’s advertising requirements can be summed up by Google’s Advertising Principles. They are put in place to provide a positive experience for users. Google Ads policies.

We have not enabled Google AdSense on our site but we may do so in the future.

California Online Privacy Protection Act

CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law’s reach stretches well beyond California to require any person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting Personally Identifiable Information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly which information is being collected and those individuals or companies with whom it is being shared.
